That's my pick for recent years. Sony's 2015 show was good, but out of the holy Trinity they showed only one is out. 2017 was good, but had fewer new announcements than 2016. 2018 showed some awesome games, but the format sucked.
Last year was Microsoft's only good conference in recent memory and Nintendo's always doing their own thing that's kinda hard to compare, lol. Sony's 2016 is easily the best on recent years.
Yeah, I'm sure they'll have some first party stuff, but without Sony there this year I expect a decent amount of third party stuff.
Hopefully people won't criticize it for the first party stuff though. That always seemed silly to me. A complete lack of first party software is one thing, but showing off exciting new third party software should get everyone excited and make for a good conference as more people are able to play the games.
Hell, you could find a used Switch, PS4, or Xbox One for just slightly more.
Native 8K for games will be rarer than 720p on Wii!

Yeah, I'm highly critical of the Order 1886, but I also really believe that it's one of the best examples of a game this generation that really needs a sequel. The game had a lot of issues, but it laid the groundwork for what could be a well-loved franchise.
Yeah, the game will absolutely need races against other people if they want it to survive. Most of the fun in Mario Kart is playing with other people. Being able to have 8 people in a room pull out their phones and play Mario Kart together anywhere would be one of the biggest draws of a Mario Kart phone game.
Yeah, regular Mario Kart is super slow in 50cc too. If 150cc and 200cc see a similar speed increase to what they see on consoles, k don't expect it to be too bad.
Hopefully the other issues are fixed though.

Yeah, all of that is probably two or three generations off, at least. I also forgot to mention including environmental destruction like Battlefield and physics like BoTW or Just Cause. We've still got a ways to go before we get all of that in a game that could run on reasonable hardware.

It's more that were not getting that in a console (or PC) this next generation, whether it's $400 or $500.
If they had hair looking like this and ray tracing, with graphics like The Order 1886 but in 4K 60fps with no black border or film grain, a seamless open world and loading times like that Spiderman PS5 demo, then I'd be one happy gamer. That's probably a bit much to ask for all at once though, haha.
Yeah, and plenty of third-party games you will be able to play on PlayStation. Hell, FF7R will be there and it was announced at a Sony conference. These people seriously pretend that thet only care about games that are *only* shown at Sony shows?
I played Dragon "Warrior" back on NES when I was a kid and it was one of my favorite series. I didn't realize the series continued as Dragon Quest until years later when I saw Dragon Quest 8. Picked it up and fell in love with the series allover again. It would be awesome if they'd give us a collection over here in the West. Nearly every single entry is available on to play on the 3DS, but it would be nice to get them all in one HD collection for all consoles.
I got BFV for like $20 before the end of last year. Many other games have seen steep discounts immediately after release. Fallout 76, Mass Effect Adromeda, and others.
I mean, God of War is directly based on Western mythologies. That's kind of hard to sell to an audience that is barely familiar with the Greek and Norse gods.
Sucks, because it's an amazing game, but it makes perfect sense.
Price is determined by demand. You can bet if companies could get away with giving AAA games $70 or $80 MSRPs they would.
As far as remakes go, the fact of the matter is that more people will buy a game like Resident Evil 2 or Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening at $60 than will buy MediEvil at $30 or Shadow of the Colossus at $40. If Nintendo or Capcom had to charge less, or Sony could charge more and still see strong sales, it would happen.

It has nothing to do with whether or not someone likes Mario or Zelda. It's the fact that he's dismissing a large number of games for being "cartoonist". If someone said they have no interest in a PS4 because they don't like "realistic" games it would be just as silly.
I mean, depending on how the playerbase is after discounts it may not even be worth picking up from a bargain bin.
That was a problem I had with Titanfall 2 on PC. I held up because money was a little tight at the time, but by the time it was discounted the playerbase was so low that it wasn't worth it at any price.
And that was after they would go on about how powerful the Wii U was and how great of performance they were getting out of it. Clearly they were talking out of their asses.
Hopefully an Ori 2 release date, some Age of Empires news, some Battletoads news, and an announcement of Playground Games other game.
If it's just a new Forza, Gears announcements, Sea of Thieves content, GamePass updates, Halo Infinite, and third party stuff, that would suck.
